Liverpool Transfer News Today: Second SIGNING, Timber INTEREST, Title winner’s potential RETURN

Here’s our roundup of all the latest Liverpool transfer news today (Monday August 26) as Liverpool secure second signing.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a medical is taking place for Liverpool’s second signing of the Arne Slot era.

An agreement has been made between Liverpool and Valencia over a €35 million deal for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Georgian international will remain at the Spanish club on loan before joining up with Slot’s side in 2025.

The goalkeeper is set to be the Alisson‘s successor with the Brazilian reaffirming his commitment to staying on Merseyside after being approached by clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool have been linked with a player that Arne Slot knows well as the new manager attempts to bolster his squad before the end of the transfer window.

While the Reds are the only team in the Premier League yet to make a signing due a failed bid for Martin Zubimendi and delays in finalising a move for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, it could be a busy week with youth players on the way out and money waiting to be spent.

A midfielder has long been on Slot’s shopping list, with a new link emerging with a player he used to manage at Feyenoord.

According to TEAMtalk, Slot isn’t completely convinced by either Wataru Endo OR Curtis Jones in midfield, and wants to add a new player before the end of the window.

Quinten Timber is top of the list according to the report, which also links Liverpool with Borussia Monchengladbach‘s Manu Kone.

Tsimikas could leave Anfield

With reports of numerous outgoings and some potential incomings, it is set to be a busy week for Liverpool and Richard Hughes.

While the Reds have secured a deal with Valencia for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, a key member of the squad could leave last-minute.

The Reds have lost Fabio Carvalho, Sepp van den Berg and Bobby Clark in recent weeks and there could be another first-team star that could head out of Anfield.

According to journalist David Lynch, Kostas Tsimikas could become the latest player to leave the club.

The Greek defender has spent most of his Anfield career on the bench playing back-up to Andy Robertson.

Oxlade-Chamberlain eyes PL return

Former Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could return to the Premier League just a year after his Anfield departure.

The former Red was released by the club last year, joining Turkish club Besiktas on a three-year deal.

However his season was again impacted by injury resulting in limited game time for the 31-year-old

Journalist Sercan Dikme reported earlier this month that Besiktas held positive talks with the Englishman about terminating his contract.

Now there are reports that Brentford and Ajax were in the running to sign the midfielder.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has revealed why he thinks the club are yet to make any signings in the transfer window so far this summer.

While Arne Slot’s has a strong squad to choose from, Liverpool are in the market for reinforcements in defence and midfield if the right players become available – and are set to announce the addition of Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili ahead of a loan back to Spain before the window closes.

After the Brentford win on Sunday, Carragher shared that there could be a hidden reason behind the lack of major incomings this summer

Speaking on Sky Sports, the Liverpool legend said that he thinks the club could already be focusing their attention on NEXT season when it comes to transfers.
