SAINT PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Public Facilities Authority (MPFA) has awarded $60.3 million in grants and loans to 17 water infrastructure projects across the state, including significant funding for improvements in the Lincoln-Pipestone Rural Water District and the city of Minneota.
The Lincoln-Pipestone Rural Water District will receive $5.75 million for the predesign, design, and construction of a water source development project. The funding will support the development of new wells, a water softening treatment plant using lime softening, and the installation of new water distribution pipes.
Minneota has been awarded $3.84 million for two critical infrastructure projects. The first will replace aging sanitary sewer collection lines along Grant, Lyon, and Main streets, as well as make necessary lift station improvements. The second project will replace deteriorating drinking watermains along the same streets, ensuring residents have access to clean and safe drinking water.
The MPFA’s funding supports municipalities in upgrading wastewater and drinking water systems to meet state and federal standards, protecting public health and promoting economic growth. Since its inception in 1987, the MPFA has financed nearly $6.1 billion in infrastructure projects across Minnesota.
