Letter | Make infrastructure, not war

Must read

Dear Editor: In the current geopolitical tumult centered around Ukraine, the United States finds itself at a crossroads that demands a reevaluation of its strategic priorities.

Rather than perpetuating a cycle of wasteful spending in foreign conflicts, particularly through proxy engagements, our nation should redirect its considerable resources towards the urgent task of rebuilding our dilapidated infrastructure.

Investing in infrastructure is not merely a practical necessity; it embodies a symbolic and substantive commitment to the foundational pillars of our national identity. By revitalizing our roads, bridges and public services, we not only address immediate deficiencies but also stimulate local economies and create sustainable job opportunities across the country.

Harmony between domestic exigencies and international responsibilities is paramount. Neglecting our infrastructure while engaging in distant conflicts undermines our national cohesion and diminishes our global influence.
