MADISON CO., Miss. (WLBT) – Christmas is just four days away, and the final push is on to get those shopping lists cleared.
No matter how hard you try, there’s always an item or two you need to pick up days before.
As hundreds were out shopping on Saturday, there was an extra holiday hop in their steps for sure.
“I waited a little too late this year, but it’s good to be done,” said Sarah Compton, who was out holiday shopping.
“We have some more to do. We’re going to go down the road and hit up Bass Pro and see what they have over there for us,” said Tyler West, who was also out holiday shopping.
It was a packed-out parking lot at the Renaissance at Colony Park in Ridgeland.
Shoppers flooded the sidewalks going store to store, shopping for special gifts for those they love.
It’s one of the busiest weekends of the year.
“Well, I just had a few gifts left to get, and I just wanted to get here right when they opened this morning to fight some of the crowds. It’s been a pretty day, and I can officially say I’m don’t Christmas shopping,” said Sarah Compton.
Many were seen carrying bags filled with everything from clothes to name-brand perfumes and jewelry.
“I went to Columbia and bought a few things for my parents and my girlfriend. Said Hunter Steele
“I went to Belk and Columbia for my girlfriend because I have been late and I’ve been neglecting it. So, I just have to get it done,” Tyler West said.
The National Retail Federation predicts 15 million more shoppers than last year to shop on the Saturday before Christmas.
All in all, shoppers say they enjoy the spirit of the holiday season.
“We love Christmas. We love giving gifts and spending time with family. We love doing kids’ activities and things to keep us busy.”
For those of you who still need to get out and get that last-minute item, you still have time to do so.
Many of your local shops won’t begin closing until the day before Christmas Eve.
