BLUEFIELD, Va. (WVVA) -Around the world, people are winding down their preparations for Christmas. However, some may find that they still have some last-minute shopping to do, even here on Christmas Eve.
It was the hunt for those last-minute gifts that brought some people to downtown Bluefield Virginia today. We stopped in a couple of the stores that were open for Christmas Eve customers, both of which said they’ve had people stop by to cross some names of their Christmas lists.
An employee with the Corner Stone says their popular last-minute presents include jewelry, candles, and accessories.
“Every year there’s going to be people that didn’t want to go shopping and they waited until the last minute and realized they have to, or they’ve just been busy and hadn’t been able to get out until now,” says Mandy Blevins, a gift wrapper at The Corner Stone.
Nancy Grant, the owner of Nancy’s Downtown Boutique, says they have gifts for people who just need that “one more thing.”
“…They may think they didn’t buy quite enough for one person, you know, the stacks aren’t even, so they’ve got to get that one more thing or they’ve got that one more guest that just showed up that they didn’t have anything for…” says Grant.
Both stores closed early at 2:00 in the afternoon, but they encourage people to buy their post-Christmas gifts on sale when they reopen. The Corner Stone will be reopening the day after Christmas on the 26th, and Nancy’s Downtown Boutique will be reopening on January 2nd.
