Laredo Police share tips to stay safe while holiday shopping

Must read

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – As the holiday shopping season gets busy, the Laredo Police Department is offering tips to help shoppers avoid theft.

Police warn that with large crowds at stores, thieves are also on the lookout for easy targets. Many thefts go unreported, sometimes because victims don’t realize their items were stolen.

If something is stolen, police encourage people to report it. They say they often have success finding suspects and recovering stolen items.

To stay safe, police suggest:

  • Park in well-lit areas: Avoid dark parking lots.
  • Hide your purchases: Put items out of sight or take them home before going to another store.
  • Take your keys: Lock your car and keep your keys with you.
  • Stay alert: Pay attention to your surroundings, especially since it gets darker earlier.

If you need to report a theft, contact the police for help at 956-795-2800.
