The Lakeland Community College Board has selected David Cummins as the school’s new vice president for administrative services and college treasurer, effective July 1.
Cummins has served in multiple roles for the Ohio Department of Higher Education since 2017, recently as associate vice chancellor of financial planning and oversight and previously as interim vice chancellor of finance and data management.
During his tenure with the department, he assisted with policy development and administration of state financial support for public higher education.
“Mr. Cummins is widely recognized as a state leader in higher education financial planning, analysis and administration,” said Lakeland President Sunil Ahuja. “As treasurer, he will ensure a secure financial future for Lakeland, with responsible stewardship of public dollars.”
Before working at the state level, Cummins held financial leadership roles at public two- and four-year institutions.
Additionally, he has served as vice president for administrative services and treasurer for Lorain County Community College; vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer for the University of Akron; and vice president of business and finance/treasurer for North Central Technical College in Mansfield.
In his career, Cummins worked as a senior analyst for the Ohio Office of Budget and Management in Columbus.
“I am excited about the opportunity to join Lakeland Community College,” he said. “I firmly believe in the community college mission. Lakeland is an important asset to the region, and I look forward to contributing to its future success.”
Cummins holds bachelor’s degrees from Cleveland State University and a master’s from Ohio State University.
