LabCorp to Settle Suit Over Alleged Google Patient Data Sharing

Laboratory Corp. of America Holdings will settle out of court a suit alleging the company sent Google Inc. sensitive patient data without users’ consent.

The US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ruled plaintiffs checked the box agreeing to the arbitration provision and class action waiver as part of LabCorp’s terms and conditions while registering, meaning the users can’t resolve the dispute in court.

The text confirming agreement to the data contract is “small but legible,” and users were reasonably notified of to the terms through a highlighted blue hyperlink, Judge Wendy Beetlestone ruled.
