Kroger adds security measures to some Columbus-area stores

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Six Kroger stores in the Columbus area are now requiring receipt checks as part of added security measures.

In addition, shoppers at those locations won’t be allowed to bring in suitcases, duffel bags or roller bags. Signs are placed at the entrance of each store, and they add that Kroger has the right to search bags if they feel it’s needed. 

“At Kroger we are committed to providing access to fresh food and essentials,” a Kroger representative said in a statement. “Safety is one of our core values, and it guides everything we do. In response to increased incidents of theft, we recently deployed added safety measures, including receipt checks, at six Columbus-area stores. Although early in implementation, we have received positive feedback from associates and customers.” 

The changes have been implemented at the following stores:

  • Brewers Yard at 150 W Sycamore St. 
  • Bexley at 2000 E Main St. 
  • Great Southern at 3637 S High St. 
  • Northland Village at 1745 Morse Rd.
  • Short North at 1350 N High St. 
  • 3600 Soldano Blvd.

Kroger didn’t note any other security measures.
