Must read

Mayor Don D. Hardy is announcing that Kinston has been awarded a $2 million grant from the North Carolina State Water Infrastructure Authority (SWIA) to support lead service line replacement throughout Kinston and Lenoir County. This funding, made possible through the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and administered by the NC Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure, is a step toward ensuring clean, safe drinking water for Kinston residents.

Replacing outdated service lines is critical to protecting public health, improving water quality, and modernizing our city’s infrastructure. This investment will allow us to upgrade aging water systems, preventing contamination risks and ensuring that Kinston families have access to safe drinking water for generations to come, per a release.

Hardy expressed his gratitude to Kinston Public Services team for their dedication in securing these funds, as well as to the Biden Administration, our state and federal legislators, and the NC Department of Environmental Quality for their commitment.
