Kentucky receives multimillion-dollar federal infrastructure funding

The funds will be used to complete over a dozen projects in Kentucky, including two here in Lexington. Mayor Linda Gorton said a $3.5 million grant will be used for the Lane Allen sidewalks and Harrodsburg Road trail projects.

“First, funds for a shared use path from Dogwood trace to Man O’ War. We are working to connect more and more neighborhoods to our trail network, and this is a big step forward. Secondly, funding to close the gaps in sidewalks from Harrisburg Road to Traveler Rd.” Gorton said, “Sidewalks are essential to health and safety.”

The grant came from the federally funded transportation alternatives program. Governor Andy Beshear said the money will help communities complete infrastructure projects by filling financial gaps caused by inflation and rising costs.
