Must read

School district administrators from Washington state, Idaho and Indiana are moving on to the next round of consideration to be the future superintendent of Kennewick School District.

The district announced the selection of Chris Nesmith of Elma, Washington; Davion Lewis of South Bend, Indiana, and Lance Hansen of Lewiston, Idaho, as finalists for the role on Jan. 31. Their selection followed preliminary public interviews of six initial candidates earlier that week.

Public interviews of the finalists will take place at 6 p.m. Feb. 4-6 at Kennewick School District’s administration building. Community members are encouraged to attend to meet the finalists, ask questions and provide input.

The new superintendent will begin work July 1, succeeding current Superintendent Traci Pierce, who will retire in June 2025. Pierce has led Kennewick schools since January 2020. Her salary was $299,445 in the 2022-23 school year, the most recent year of available salary data from the Washington State Fiscal Information database.

Biographies of the finalist candidates and other information about the district’s superintendent search are available online.
