TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) – Four Kansas communities have secured nearly $2 million in infrastructure funding to improve local airports.
Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly announced the news Friday in a release, sharing that more than $1.7 million in federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Infrastructure Grant program. The projects are also receiving almost $200,000 in matching funds from the Kansas Infrastructure Fund and Build Kansas Fund.
The airports receiving funding are the Independence Municipal Airport, Hutchinson Regional Airport, Coffey County Airport and Elkhart-Morton County Airport.
“Kansas’ airports play a vital role in connecting businesses to more opportunities and strengthening local economies,” Kelly said. “These four projects will improve airport infrastructure while strengthening the state’s transportation network.”
