JPD Looking For Vehicle Possibly Involved In September Homicide

A pick-up truck is pictured that may have been involved in a Sept. 10 homicide at Forest and Newland avenues in Jamestown. City police officers are asking for the public’s help identifying the truck’s owner and operator.

Jamestown police officers have released images of a pick-up truck whose owner and operator they are trying to identify as part of a homicide investigation.

“There is a photo attached from the area and we are asking for assistance in identifying the owner and operator of the dark colored pick-up truck in the picture. We are asking that anyone with information to please call the Jamestown Command Desk at 716-483-7537 or the confidential tip line at 716-483-8477 (TIPS).”

Around 8:40 p.m. Sept. 10, officers responded to the area of Newland and Forest avenues for a reported shooting incident. Officers found Doug Howie, 68, of Jamestown, at the scene suffering from a bullet wound. The Jamestown Fire Department and Alstar Ambulance Service also responded and treated the victim of his wounds. He was transported to UPMC Chautauqua and subsequently flown to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., where Howie succumbed to his wounds.

The homicide is the seventh in Chautauqua County since the beginning of the year.
