JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – The Jones County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing Monday to discuss grants from the Mississippi Development Authority and Community Incentive Division.
Dacetown Road, off U.S. 11 in Ellisville, acts as a gateway to the new Cold-Link Logistics company.
Once the business is open, trucks will be able to enter the Interstate 59 Industrial Site through that area.
“Cold-Link will be receiving, at their full buildout, approximately 80 trucks a day,” Pickering Engineering Services owner Wiley Pickering said. “So, this project will upgrade existing infrastructure,”
Jones County recently got a federal Community Development Block Grant of $2.1 million to widen U.S. 11 and add turning lanes for easier access and traffic volume.
“The goal of the project was to incentivize Cold-Link logistics to locate here, which is what we successfully did, and part of that is we reconstructed a road and also supplied them with water and sewer,” said Danielle Ashley, Board of Supervisors chief administrative officer/board attorney.
Water and sewer funds will come from the development infrastructure program of more $1 million and that’s already been completed.
“Those extensions would be connected to the City of Ellisville water and sewer infrastructure,” said Pickering.
Ashley said the company is investing back into Jones County with job opportunities and growth.
“Cold-Link Logistics is investing $75 million into the community, (and) they’re creating 84 new jobs,” Ashley said. “So, it’s definitely a development for the economy.”
Supervisors said roadway construction should be done by the end of July.
