John E. Postolowski

John, born on April 21, 1958, to Edward and Angeline (Polisoto) Postolowski, grew up in the rural community of Portland where he learned the importance of hard work and family values. A proud graduate of Brocton Central School’s class of 1976, John furthered his skills by acquiring vocational training in welding and mechanics, which charted his future career path.

For a quarter of a century, John dedicated himself to Altech Steel, and after its closure, he continued working with the same diligence at Global Environmental Industries for an additional 24 years. His industrious spirit was also witnessed in his early years working alongside his parents in the grape fields, a testament to his deep roots in the community.

Outside of work, John was an avid lover of demolition derby cars, with countless hours happily spent on his cherished hobby. He took immense pride in grooming his lawn and tending to his yard–his personal sanctuary and a venue for family gatherings. The joys of his life were his children–Jennifer (Eddie) DeJesus, Bryan (Angel) Postolowski, and Grady Postolowski–and his grandchildren Adam, Evelia, Aubree, Rylee, Zola, and two great grandchildren with whom he shared his love and wisdom.

John’s community spirit shone through his involvement in youth sports, where he not only coached baseball but also gave back as an umpire, instilling sportsmanship and camaraderie in young athletes.

Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Angeline, and his sister Deborah Ossman, John’s legacy is carried forward by his loving fiancÈe, Elizabeth M. Gee, his devoted children, his cherished grandchildren, his brother-in-law, Richard Ossman, and his former wife, Brenda Postolowski.

In a life richly lived, John’s memory will be held dear in the hearts of his loved ones and the community he served so well. He will be remembered as a steadfast provider, a guiding force, and a joy to all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery
