Jersey Mike’s among incoming businesses at Millville shopping center

MILLVILLE — A Jersey Mike’s Subs franchise starts work this fall on opening a shop at Union Lake Crossing Shopping Center

And the sandwich shop is just one of six new tenants expected to open at the Millville center in coming months, according to Union Lake’s owner.

The newcomers will include a restaurant, a medical office, a restaurant and apparel stores.

Matt Catania and John Helm, who own the planned Jersey Mike’s, hope to open in the first quarter of 2025.

“There are really no Jersey Mike’s in that area,” said Catania, who holds multiple franchises for the chain.

“And we have heard from a lot of our current customers who have requested that we bring our authentic fresh sliced-fresh grilled subs further down south.”  

Catania and Helm expect to begin preparations in the fall, when they take over a storefront that currently holds an AAA South Jersey office.

But, AAA South Jersey is not leaving and actually has inked a new agreement. It is skipping a short distance to the site of a former Pretzel Factory, and which the automotive/travel services club expects to have user-ready this fall.

Irgang Group, which owns the center, also said a Bath & Body Works is relocating this fall from an unspecified nearby shopping center. It is taking over a 4,400-square-foot space that formerly held The Children’s Place.

Also coming to the center:

  • Inspira Health is to open a medical office on Sept. 10 at a former Pier 1 store. It will offer primary and specialty care providers.
  • Later this month, sports merchandise outlet Rally House is to open in a 7,500-square-foot store that had held a Marburn Curtains.
  • Old Navy expects to open in a 15,000-square-foot space cut out of the former Dick’s store.
  • Additionally, Poke Bros. expects to start construction on a 1,000-square foot restaurant offering Hawaiian-style food bowls.

Irgang Group CEO Mark Irgang noted that discussions are under way with a prospective tenant for the center’s remaining 2,243-square-foot inline space, situated between Cato Fashions and Five Below.

“The upcoming openings are certain to continue the strong uptick in shopper traffic our tenants have experienced,” Irgang said.

According to Pacer.ai, annual shopper visits at Union Lake have climbed to more than 5.1 million, a 21 percent increase from 2021.

The center still has an undeveloped pad site suitable for drive-thru restaurants or other freestanding uses.
