We caught a small glimpse of a new Itel phone when it visited the Google Play Console earlier. Itel A80 is on the horizon, by the looks of it. It’s from their A series, so there’s a chance it will be an affordable device like the others in the family. Anyway, here’s what Google Play Console has to say about it.
Well, for starters, the listing confirms our suspicion that it’s an entry-level phone. They assigned it the model number A671LC. Itel A80 is a device capped at 720 x 1600 screen resolution. You’ll find that HD+ IPS is the most used standard in cheaper sub-100 dollar phones.
Then GPC mentioned ‘Speedtrum T603.’ If you don’t know, that is the system on Chip from Unisoc, and people often refer to it as Unisoc Tiger T603. It isn’t a potent chip by any means. 1800 MHz is the fastest clock speed you get out of this one. But it still gets along fine with lighter Android Go versions.
That SoC has integrated graphics PowerVR GE8322. But that GPU has aged well throughout the years. One other thing that GPC brought to our attention was RAM. 3 GB memory in the Itel new 4G budget mobile is another hint that it belongs to the lower segment of the market.
Android 14 (SDK 34) is the latest from Google, and it’s anyone’s guess how Itel A80 will handle it with only 3GB memory. There weren’t any mentions if it’s Android 14 Go or not. But with these specs, they are better off using the lighter ‘Go’ build instead of the full-feature Android 14.
