iPhone Is Becoming A Hub For All AI Features As Google Launches Standalone ‘Gemini’ App While ChatGPT Integrates With Siri

Must read

Apple has recently stepped into the world of AI with its new Apple Intelligence features, which aim to compete better against the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy AI and Google’s Gemini. However, Google is not shy about introducing and sharing its AI features with other companies, especially the iPhone, as it allows the company to gain more momentum in the industry and to adopt it more widely. In a surprise turn of events, Google’s standalone Gemini app has been spotted for the iPhone, but there is no word when it will make it to the App Store.

Google is bringing a dedicated Gemini app to the iPhone to widen its reach

This is not the first time that Google will bring its services to the iPhone or iOS, for that matter. The company previously brought a handful of Gemini-focused features to the iPhone through its Google Search app. The new Google Gemini app, spotted on the App Store, will allow you to access Gemini Live through a dedicated platform (via 9to5google).

After installing the app, you will get a Gemini icon on the Home Screen of your iPhone: Unlock the power of Google AI on your iPhone.” Previously, you only had the option to access Google’s AI features through the Google Search app by switching to the Gemini tab situated at the bottom. However, the app was soon updated with customizable shortcuts which can be accessed with a single tab.

The Google Gemini app’s listing shows that you will have the ability to access a feature that is not yet available in the Google app. One user has already downloaded and installed the app and showed off the new voice experience. Gemini will take advantage of Apple’s Live Activity feature to remain active in the background while you use your iPhone for different tasks.

At this point in time, there has been only one user who downloaded the app in the Philippines, and when you try to download it in the United States, the listing reads that the “app is currently not available in your country or region.” Google will potentially introduce the app in additional countries and regions soon, so be sure to stick around for more details. It remains to be seen how Google’s Gemini will sit between OpenAI’s ChatGPT integration with Siri and Apple Intelligence features, but all in all, the iPhone is acting as a hub for all AI features being introduced in the industry.
