FRACKVILLE – Two infrastructure projects in Frackville are receiving state funding, state legislators announced this week, including one that will signalize the Altamont Boulevard intersection with Route 61.
I-81 Logistics, LLC, is receiving $200,000 to signalize the intersection and create a dedicated right-turn lane there.
That project, Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-29), say will improve motorist safety, support the construction of a commercial property and create 600 jobs.
The company plans to build a 1.3 Million square foot warehouse off Eleanor Avenue across from the State Police barracks.
In Frackville proper, the borough was awarded $250,000 to replace sidewalks along a block of North Lehigh Avenue legislators say are in poor condition and pose hazards to pedestrians.
“Investing in our infrastructure is essential to keeping our communities safe and accessible,” said Twardzik. “This funding will support critical sidewalk and roadway improvements across the 123rd District. I look forward to seeing the positive impact these projects will have for residents and businesses throughout the region.”
“Projects like these are important for building strong communities yet can be very expensive for local governments,” said Argall. “This highly competitive state funding will make drivers and pedestrians safer in our area.”
This funding was awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation. The grants were approved during a public meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority today, an independent agency with fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
