Hyderabad Man Shot Dead In US, Was Looking For A Job

A 26-year-old man from Hyderabad was shot dead at a gas station in the United States on Monday in a suspected firing by assailants in Washington DC. The victim, identified as Ravi Teja, was a resident of RK Puram Green Hills Colony in Hyderabad. He went to the US in March 2022 for a Masters Degree.

After completing his education, the victim was actively looking for a job in the city when the incident took place.

The local police are investigating the motive behind the attack and are working on identifying the perpetrators, officials said.

Several incidents of Indian-origin students being killed in the US have emerged in the last few months.

Last month, a student from Telangana was shot dead by armed men at a petrol pump in the US city of Chicago. The victim was identified as 22-year-old Sai Teja Nukarapu, who was a student and worked part-time at the petrol pump. According to the victim’s parents, the victim was not on duty when he was shot dead but was rather helping a friend who had requested him to stay on.

In another incident, an Indian academic was shot dead by unknown assailants in the Georgia capital Atlanta while he was on his way to attend a program. The victim, Dr Shriram Singh, had lived in the US for close to four decades.
