Mifflin County’s Koy Aurand leads teammates up a hill.

REEDSVILLE ā€” Mifflin County hosted State College for a cross country meet on Tuesday. The Husky boys won, 26-30. MC girls fell, 19-42.

ā€œIā€™m really pleased with the guys today. It was really impressive. We held out a couple of our top guys and still were able to get a solid effort. Itā€™s not a great time to pull back. They had another hard week of training and they still looked great today. Iā€™m pleased,ā€ MC boys coach Alex Monroe stated.

Stateā€™s Stephen Fowler was in first place at 17:05 and teammate Ben Alexander was third at 17:46.

Mifflin Countyā€™s Wyatt Kauffman finished second at 17:17 and teammate Aidan Scavitti earned fourth place at 17:50. Koy Aurand was fifth at 17:51 and Hart Oden landed in sixth place at 17:52. Styers Oden had a ninth-place time of 18:02 and Hoyt Rodenbaugh ran to 10th place at 18:10 for the Huskies.

ā€œI think just sticking with their top guy was good. Our team did really well today,ā€ Kauffman added.

Stateā€™s Sylvia Hutchinson placed first in the girls race at 21:53. Teammate Alexa Peterson was second at 22:00. Husky Amilia Coffey was third at 22:27. Teammate Ava Wagner placed sixth at 22:49 and Ava Kratzer was 10th at 22:59.

ā€œWe saw improvement today. We havenā€™t raced in a week which is really good, we had so many races going on so I feel like today was our first opportunity to see where they are at with having a little bit of rest this past week. I was pleased they were putting good effort, we just have to keep improving and working hard in practice,ā€ Huskies coach Neil Breneman said.

ā€œWorking together through it, me and Ava Wagner were able to stick with each other for the first two miles. I was able to get the lead in the last mile. It definitely helped me run with her,ā€ Husky Amilia Coffey noted.

The MC girls battle Central Dauphin East today at 4:30 p.m. MC boys compete Saturday at the Mt. Lion Invitational in Altoona.
