Hummus Fit, a growing prepared meals company, is opening a new location in Lake Grove.
Hummus Fit transformed the property at 2810 Middle Country Road that had been home to The Good Steer restaurant into its newest location, where it offers its full menu of Mediterranean-inspired dishes. The company purchased the 7,600-square-foot restaurant on 3.03 acres at the end of 2023 for $3.4 million and has since invested another $1.75 million in extensive renovations to create the Lake Grove facility, which is slated to open on Saturday, Sept. 28.
This will be Hummus Fit’s seventh fully branded Long Island location, following others in Woodbury, Lynbrook, Holbrook, Ronkonkoma, Lindenhurst and Selden. The company, which is planning to open in Deer Park, also offers its prepared meals at locations in Connecticut, South Carolina, upstate New York, New Jersey and Hummus Fit will soon open stores in Pennsylvania and Florida.
Hummus Fit also has a second new Lake Grove operation. The company purchased the former 2,025-square-foot 7-Eleven building on .36 acres at 2820 Middle Country Road for $1.2 million in Oct. 2023 and has turned it into a nationwide shipping facility, from which it ships weekly meal plans and individual meals to customers across the country.
Hummus Fit was founded in 2019 and is owned by Long Islanders Tony Mavruk, Tuncay Dosdogru and Erhan Mavruk. The chain features menus that include hummus bowls, wraps, salads, soups, and more. Among some of its more popular offerings are chicken Caesar wraps, teriyaki flank steak and clean bulk pasta bowls. Besides ordering hot food, the Lake Grove store will also offer refrigerated grab-and-go meals.
Unique to the new Lake Grove store will be refresher drinks made with organic cane sugar and natural ingredients, as well as protein-packed smoothies.
“This new Lake Grove location is going to be our premier store that will serve as the flagship for our growing chain,” said a Hummus Fit spokesperson. “While you’re ordering, you can see the food being prepared through a large window to the kitchen.”
