How to use Google Gemini AI assistant on locked Android phone

Must read

The AI race is heating up with everyone enhancing their platforms to provide better user accessibility.

In this competition, Google Gemini continues to improve its platform.

Recently, the Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) assistant on Android received an upgrade. Users can now give it specific commands even when their device is locked.

Previously, the AI assistant could only respond on the lock screen and complete tasks through Google Assistant.

With this update, users can ask basic questions and receive general answers without unlocking their devices. They can also perform tasks like setting, stopping, and snoozing alarms directly from the lock screen.

Here’s how to use it step by step:

  1. When the screen is off, saying “Hey Google” wakes it up.
  2. This brings up the Gemini AI interface where users can continue giving voice commands.
  3. Gemini then displays the answer in a full-screen window, similar to when the device is unlocked.
  4. When done, closing the Gemini window returns to the lock screen.
  5. Users can ask general questions, control music playback, and manage alarms and timers. They can also adjust the volume, turn on the flashlight, and more.

While Google Assistant still handles these tasks, the user experience has been improved, allowing commands to be executed faster without waiting.
