“The Holland Land Company and Me” is on exhibit through October.

LEON — “The Holland Land Company and Me” exhibit opened the summer season on earlier this month at the Leon Historical Society Museum on Route 62. The exhibit will run through October 2024.

Tina Sherman, Leon Historical Society member, was present and walked participants through the exhibit. She discussed how the company was established and the effect it had on Western New York State and why it is important today.

She was available for questions and guided guests through the display that she and Fred Milliman, fellow Leon Historical Society member, built. The exhibit shows how the Holland Land Co. surveyed and documented this land. The trials and tribulations of such an expedition and the eventual journey the settlers embarked on to live here.

Residents are welcome to visit the exhibit any Saturday from now to October from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This educational exhibit is open and free to the public.
