A tale of two trees: Last year’s dazzling holiday displays at Sunset Park (left) and Park Slope (right) lit up Brooklyn’s Fifth Avenue. This year, the Holiday Tree-to-Tree Trolley Express will connect the two festive landmarks for a day of lights, music and community cheer.

From tree to shining tree!
Brooklyn is turning up the holiday cheer with a one-day-only holiday trolley ride from Sunset Park to Park Slope.
The festive Holiday Tree-to-Tree Trolley Express will run from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, shuttling passengers from the Sunset Park tree at 60th Street and Fifth Avenue to the Park Slope tree at Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue. Sponsored by two local Business Improvement Districts — the Park Slope 5th Avenue BID and the Sunset Park BID — the trolley will also include on-board beats by DJ Eddie.
Joanna Tallantire, executive director of the Park Slope 5th Avenue BID, said the event is all about bringing cheer to the community while supporting local businesses.
The event came together to “enable these two Fifth Avenue neighborhoods to have some extra fun while shopping small,” she said. “Folks can ride the trolley, see holiday lights, and two lit Christmas trees, all to support local businesses.”
Santa will also be at the Park Slope tree from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet riders and take photos with families.
Rides are free but seating is limited to first come, first served. Early birds also have an extra incentive to hop aboard: the first 20 kids to ride the trolley will receive free goodie bags.
While the borough is no stranger to holiday trolley rides (even the spooky kind), the BIDs are billing Saturday’s outing as Brooklyn’s first-ever “Tree to Tree Trolley.”
Departures will take place at the following times and places:
- 3 p.m.: Departs 60th Street and Fifth Avenue
- 4 p.m.: Leaves Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue
- 5 p.m.: Returns to 60th Street and Fifth Avenue
- 6 p.m.: Final ride from Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue
- 7 p.m.: Ends at 60th Street and Fifth Avenue
