HOROSCOPES BY HOLIDAY
Reporting from the Cosmic Ballroom
Venus and Mercury have hung close this week like best friends at the ball. They both dance with the princely Capricorn moon in oppositions that highlight qualities like noble manners, social grace, proper signals of respect and nods to the traditions that keep power structures intact. Whether or not they should be is a topic for another day.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). Resentment is a cumbersome thing to carry around with you. It gets in the way of joy every time. You can overcome it by saying no, advocating for yourself, and making your own pleasure and contentment a priority.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Potential is good, but it’s not everything. You see what’s possible, but you won’t let yourself get carried away by it. Ground your dreams in action and watch them grow.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). As comedians know, no two rooms are alike. The joke that plays with one crowd doesn’t fit at all with the next. Your ability to read the room and adjust to suit your audience leads to a truly wonderful sequence of connections.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). You’re in the role for a reason. If you feel like an imposter, it just means you care to see the bigger aspects of the position and you’re aware that there’s some growing to do to fill out the potential of the role.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Humility is a strength. The ones who are too sure of themselves tend to make the biggest mistakes. This is why it’s good to admire others without putting them on a pedestal. Also resist letting others elevate you in this way.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). As a mature person you realize that no life is problem-free. That same maturity steers you toward new problems, not repeats. If the same issue comes up time and again, it means you’ve been solving symptoms instead of healing the source of the trouble.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Some children fight over who gets to sit in the big chair or drink out of the funny cup, and others find it easy to go with the flow. You’ll meet funny-cup fighters in their grown-up form and you may decide it’s easier to just let them have the “cup.”
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You may not be able to work through problems in a day or a week but at least you can embrace the knowledge that you are better for having to contend with them. That’s when you will see the unique advantages of your position.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). The root of frustration is almost always an expectation. Release the expectation, and the frustration dissipates. This one has to do with either time or quantity. Could you be satisfied with half as much? What if it took twice as long?
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). The more elements you introduce to a scenario, the more organized you must be to handle the complexity. An easy way to order your thoughts is to keep thinking about what you want. What you think about, you’ll bring about.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Though problem-solving is a strength of yours, you also know better than to invite trouble. Life usually brings it eventually, so there’s no reason to seek it. This is why you’ll spend a good part of the day maintaining things before they become a problem.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). It is a basic human need to feel seen. The person who sees something in others changes others. Attention, like the wind, is an invisible force that can move the world.
TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (June 22). You will get hard evidence of the difference you make in the world. Love comes in the quiet moments, where words are few and feelings are deep, but it also surges through bigger-than-life adventures, projects and lessons. More highlights: You’ll win a numbers game. You’ll become self-sufficient in new ways, which gives you a thrilling range of fresh freedoms. Virgo and Aquarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 7, 18, 23, 14 and 5.
CELEBRITY PROFILES: In “Only Murders in the Building,” Meryl Streep plays against type, portraying an actress who is inconsistently brilliant. Streep’s consistent brilliance has earned her more Academy Award nominations than any other actor. Streep was born when the sun, Venus and Uranus were all in Cancer, the sign of mothers. Streep’s natal chart suggests her favorite role is likely the role of mother to four children.
