In a “very productive” call with President-elect Donald Trump, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul made her case for federal funding to support major state projects, including the Micron semiconductor plant in Syracuse and the expansion of the Second Avenue Subway in Manhattan.
Hochul emphasized the economic significance of the CHIPS and Science Act, crucial for the semiconductor project, which she said could create up to 50,000 jobs. She also highlighted the need for federal support in upgrading Penn Station and extending the subway, underscoring that these infrastructure improvements could benefit all New Yorkers.
Following the call, Hochul said she is committed to working across political lines to secure resources, adding that she would “unrelentingly” defend New York’s interests.
