Hampton Coffee Company has opened a new espresso bar and café in Hampton Bays.

The Southampton-based coffee company’s new location at 31 Shinnecock Road is the chain’s seventh on Long Island. The space was last occupied by The Hamlet eatery and was originally Pete’s Green Door, a farmstand and breakfast and lunch place that was open for years and owned by local Pete Charos. Hampton Coffee Company teamed up with Charos to renovate the place and open its new location.

“We have been wanting to open a café in Hampton Bays for more than 10 years,” Jason Belkin, Hampton Coffee Company co-owner, said in a company statement. “So many of our customers and team members live here. We were just waiting for the perfect place and with Pete’s support, we found it.”

HCC Hampton Bays store manager Ebens Legros said the café offers a full menu of hot, iced and blended espresso drinks and coffees; bakery items baked on premises; hot breakfast and lunch options including breakfast wraps, egg sandwiches, paninis and wraps.

The new café held a grand opening celebration on Saturday which raised money for The Friends of The Hampton Bays Library.

Belkin said “keeping it local” is very important to the business.

“Did you know that surveys show that for every $1 spent at a local business, 68 cents of it stays right here in the community?” Belkin said in the statement. “Being a part of our community is one of the most important parts of our company’s mission statement.”

Founded in 1994, family-owned Hampton Coffee Company has locations in Southampton, Water Mill, Westhampton Beach, Aquebogue, Montauk, Center Moriches, and now Hampton Bays.
