GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Two years after Green Bay was ranked the best place to live in the United States, the city is climbing up another U.S. News & World Report list.
Green Bay is the 11th-best place to retire in the nation, according to the magazine’s 2025 rankings released Monday. Green Bay moved up from 16th in the 2024 rankings.
“The 2025 Best Places to Retire rankings reflect top cities across the country that best meet retiree needs and desires,” Dawn Bradbury, assistant managing editor for real estate at U.S. News, said in a news release. “What we found this year is retirees seek a destination that will not only stretch their dollar, but is also a place for enjoyment. This is why the Midwest and South dominate the top 25.”
For the latest rankings, U.S. News made happiness the most heavily weighted of its six scoring factors. The other factors were affordability, health care quality, retiree taxes, desirability and job market. The publication also switched from using metro statistical area to city-based data.
Naples, Florida took the top spot in the rankings, followed by Virginia Beach, Virginia and New York City.
In Wisconsin, Madison held steady at 37th, while Milwaukee fell from 64th to 123rd.
