Green Bay Packers Shopping Jaire Alexander

Must read

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander has been involved in rumors for the past couple of seasons. However, Alexander is a top talent at corner, and Green Bay has kept him on their roster. With a new offseason starting, it has been reported that the Packers have had trade conversations centered around Jaire Alexander.

Green Bay Packers Shopping Star Cornerback

Jaire Alexander has been a great cornerback for the Green Bay Packers since being drafted by them in 2018. Alexander is a two-time All-Pro and has made two Pro Bowls, both in 2020 and 2022. He was tied for second in the NFL in interceptions with five in 2022. However, Alexander has frequently battled injuries and has caused some off-the-field drama. It looks like Green Bay is finally looking to part ways with Alexander via trade. Where could Alexander end up if he is traded?

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for a quick and competitive rebuild. There is a youth movement going on in Jacksonville with the team hiring a new general manager and head coach both under the age of 40. However, franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence is entering his fifth season in the league and the franchise needs to capitalize on his prime years now.

Jaire Alexander is a great fit for Jacksonville. This is a team that was the worst in the league against the pass last season, allowing the most passing yards per game with 257.4. Jacksonville also gave up the fifth most points, allowing 25.6 points per game. The Jaguars offense struggled last season as well but the defense gave them minimal chances to play in a close game or with a lead. The Jaguars have numerous draft picks over the next few years. One or more of these can be enticed in a trade for Alexander. It’s also worth noting that the Jaguars’ new defensive coordinator, Anthony Campanile, came from Green Bay as their linebackers coach. This would be a great match for both Jacksonville’s organization and Jaire Alexander.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have always been known for their defense and that did not change this past year. The Steelers once again had a top-ten-level defense, ranking eighth in points allowed per game, but their offense could not generate enough scoring drives. However, this does not mean Pittsburgh could not use another corner. Although the Steelers were top ten in points allowed, this was mainly due to their elite ability to force field goals. They ranked among the bottom ten teams in passing yards allowed per game.

Jaire Alexander could help shore up the back end of Pittsburgh’s defense. With Joey Porter Jr. already being an elite corner, Alexander would sit nicely next to him. A secondary duo of Porter and Alexander would give quarterbacks a lot of problems. The Steelers have around $60 million in cap space, so money to pay Alexander is not an issue. Mike Tomlin is always looking for ways to improve his defense.

Although Green Bay has not traded Alexander, a deal seems likely this offseason. Both sides are ready for a fresh start in 2025.
