This is great news that was announced for shoppers that are ordering online in New York State!
On Tuesday, the USPS announced that certain packages will be denied coming into the United States. On Wednesday, it was reversed and many New York State residents are relieved. While foreign companies like TEMU or SHEIN were the most popular companies that were talked about–and how they would be affected, they are hardly the only ones. Companies like Walmart and Target have third party sellers that are overseas as well that would have a hard time getting orders sent over to the United States.
All packages will end up over at customs in the United States and they are going to have a new policy that will hopefully have the least affect on distribution to the United States.
The website posted that it would be pausing all incoming packages from China and Hong Kong, but that message was hardly up for 24 hours on the USPS website. Here is the updated message that they have up on the site:
Effective February 5, 2025, the Postal Service will continue accepting all international inbound mail and packages from China and Hong Kong Posts. The USPS and Customs and Border Protection are working closely together to implement an efficient collection mechanism for the new China tariffs to ensure the least disruption to package delivery”, according to the USPS.
Now, people ordering online are worried that the prices of some products are going to go up? There is a good possibility after President Trump announced there would be a 10% tariff on certain goods.
