(KNOX) – Opportunity Park in Grand Forks will see some infrastructure work.
Grand Forks Senior Civil Engineer Logan LeTexier says the construction will include sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, paving and street light installation in the second subdivision.
“The streets in this area are South 42nd Street, 40th Avenue South and South 44th Street,” says LeTexier.
These projects were requested by the developer, Southern Estates. As per City of Grand Forks policy, a developer must contribute 50 percent upfront money before a project can be special assessed. South 42nd Street and 40th Avenue South will be classified streets with the paving and street lights having a city share.
Current city policy is to fund 80 percent of the construction cost for paving and street lights for a classified street with the remaining 20 percent to be special assessed to the benefitting properties. The City share of the paving and street lights will come from the Street/Infrastructure Fund 4815.
Right now the area operates as an agricultural field.
