GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Gov. Ron DeSantis announced two North Central Florida communities are getting money from the state for infrastructure projects.
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Cedar Key will get $2.5 million to rehab six sewer list stations that were damaged from Hurricane Idalia in 2023.
“We wanted to try to continue to work together at the local and state level to provide infrastructure workforce training. We’re not the ones creating the jobs we’re creating an environment so you can create manufacturing and more industry,” DeSantis said while speaking in Crystal River on Thursday.
DeSantis also presented a $2.8 million check to Citrus County for an industrial park.
“So I think this is exciting what’s going to happen in Citrus County, I know we’ve been helpful on some things in the past we want to continue to work together at the local and state level to provide infrastructure, workforce training…”
Multiple Citrus County officials spoke to express their gratitude, stressing that he’s the first governor to physically come deliver a check.
Cross City will also receive $620,000 from the state to improve water quality and infrastructure.
