Google Slashes Pixel 9 Pro Price In New January Sale

Must read

Before Samsung’s new Galaxy S25 steals the limelight for the next couple of weeks, Google has yet again slashed the price of the Pixel 9 range.

This is the third serious sale the company has run for its new handsets since they launched in August. The company appears to be following the Pixel 8’s playbook, with repeated, almost monthly, discounts for its flagship hardware.

The promotion mimics December’s deal with the biggest saving reserved for Google’s foldable phone.

ForbesGoogle Confirms Battery Update For Millions Of Pixel Phones

  • Pixel 9 – $649, $150 off
  • Pixel 9 Pro – $849, $150 off
  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold – $1,499, $300 off
  • Pixel 8a – $399, $100 off

Google has also upped trade-in prices. However, unlike the device-discount above they’re slightly worse than December’s pricing.

  • Pixel 7 Pro – $400 ($540 in December)
  • Pixel 6 Pro – $360 ($450 in December)
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra – $275 ($300 in December)
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra – $360 (no change)
  • Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max – $330 (no change)
  • Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max – $440 ($635 in December)

Despite the drop in trade-in value, Google is still the only place to get a half-decent price for your old Pixel phone. You will get under $300 on the secondary market for the Pixel 7 Pro, while Apple and Samsung rarely pay handsomely for a Google handset. Still, it’s disappointing the Search company has dropped its trade-in prices for this sale.

Google Will Discount The Pixel 9 Again

If you are hunting for a Pixel 9, there is no rush to take advantage of this deal. If Google does follow the Pixel 8’s promotion schedule, there will be many more opportunities to pick up a discounted Pixel 9 in the coming months. For now, hold on to see what Samsung has to offer at next week’s Galaxy S25 launch.

Samsung is promising $1,250 off the new Galaxy S25. That will likely be a combination of freebie accessories, enhanced trade-in prices and store credit. We don’t know the trade-in valuations yet, nor do we know what other discounts Samsung has planned for the device, but if the trade-in matches its current Galaxy S24 pricing then it deserves your attention.
