Google Shopping simplifies fashion with AI-driven experience

Must read

Google Shopping is evolving to offer a more personalised and engaging shopping experience, blending AI and advanced tools to make fashion and beauty shopping even more intuitive. With features like the Shopping Graph, users can get more tailored recommendations and insights that help them discover products and make informed choices based on their preferences.

People make over a billion shopping searches on Google every day, but some of those journeys can be more challenging than others. Translating a specific vision for an item that fits the shoppers’ personal style—like a ‘colourful midi dress with big daisies’—into something one can actually purchase and have in the closet can be tricky. In fact, more than half of shoppers say they’ve had trouble finding exactly what they’re looking for when they have a clear vision in mind.

Google Shopping is enhancing the shopping experience with AI-powered features like Vision Match, allowing users to describe and visualise garments, offering tailored recommendations.
With updated Machine Learning models, Google aims to improve fit accuracy and provide a more personalised, confident shopping journey across mobile and desktop platforms.

Now, all mobile users in the US can bring their fashion visions to life with Vision Match on Google Search and the Shopping tab. Earlier available as an experimental feature in Labs, Vision Match allows to describe any garment the shopper is envisioning, and uses AI image generation to display a few potential options, along with similar shoppable products, Google said on its website.

To give it a try, users can simply search for the item they’re thinking of—adding as many details as they’d like—and scroll to the ‘Can’t find it? Create it’ prompt. From there, Google will suggest some ideas to kickstart the search, allowing users to further refine their vision and explore products they can purchase. Vision Match can also be accessed by navigating to the left-hand panel in the Shopping tab and tapping ‘Create & shop’.

Google has launched its virtual try-on tool to make it easier for users to visualise garments on models that resonate most with their style. Since then, the tool has expanded from tops to dresses, and now Google is rolling out a new experience that allows users to visualise pants and skirts from hundreds of brands across the web.

Now, whether users are looking for flattering skinny jeans for a night out, a silk skirt for the office, or comfortable linen pants for summer, finding the perfect style is just a few clicks away. Users can search for pants or skirts on Google Search or the Google Shopping tab on mobile and desktop and select any result with a ‘try on’ badge. From there, they can see what the garment looks like on a diverse set of real models, ranging from XXS to XXL. To improve length accuracy and brand styling, Google has updated its Machine Learning models to generate the full look, from the matching top all the way to the shoes the model is wearing.

This feature is rolling out to help bring more visual inspiration to shopping journeys on Google, making it easier for users to see how items fit their style and feel more confident when making a purchase.
