LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Tech giant Google announced plans to invest more than $400 million in its data infrastructure in Nevada.
The investment will support data center campuses in Clark and Storey counties to help meet the demand for cloud computing and other digital products, Google said Wednesday.
“Google’s continued investment is paramount to the tech hub that continues to grow across the state,” Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo said in a statement. “Nevada has established itself as a premier destination for technology investment, and this investment further strengthens the sentiment that we are becoming a tech capital of the West.”

Google Cloud’s Las Vegas cloud region is part of a network of 40 regions around the world that deliver services to large enterprises, startups and public sector organizations.
In addition to the data investment, Google says it will donate $500,000 in support to the National Forest Foundation to benefit the Truckee River watershed in Northern Nevada.
“Our long-term presence in Nevada reflects our dedication to innovation and economic growth,” Joe Kava, vice president of global data centers for Google, said in a statement. “By investing in our technical infrastructure and supporting local organizations, we’re not only enhancing our ability to meet growing demand for Google Cloud and AI, but also contributing to the state’s vitality.”
