Google tests ‘Ask Someone Else to Pay’ feature on Play Store.

Google is rolling out an exciting new feature on its Play Store app, making it easier for users to get someone else to pay for their app purchases. This new feature allows users to request another person to cover the cost of an in-app purchase or an app they want to use.

According to a recent article by Android Authority, the feature works seamlessly with any app that uses Google Play’s in-app purchase system. The new functionality appears as a button labelled ‘ask someone else to pay for this item.’

So, how does it work? When a user clicks on this button, they will be prompted to enter the email address of the person they want to request payment from. Google will then generate a payment link that can be shared with that person. The link includes a brief description of the item being purchased and its price.

The recipient of the payment link has 24 hours to complete the transaction before the link expires. This ensures that the request is addressed promptly.

Currently, this new ‘ask someone else to pay’ button will be introduced first to users in India. However, Google has not provided a specific timeline for the rollout, nor has it confirmed if or when the feature will be available in other countries.

This feature is a handy addition for many users, making it easier for friends and family to gift apps or cover in-app purchases. Whether it’s a parent buying a game for their child or a friend helping out with an app purchase, this new button streamlines the process, making it more convenient for everyone involved.
