Google planning Made By Google event earlier to avoid clash with iPhone 16 launch in September, report says

Just last week, Google had announced the date for its Made by Google event. The company had shared a teaser titled AI…meet IX at Made by Google on its YouTube channel. The 15-second teaser showed Google Pixel IX written against a black backdrop, hinting at the unveiling of the device as well as AI features. Usually, Google unveils its Pixel devices in October. However, this time, the company is ahead of its schedule. And according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, there could be two reasons behind this.

As per the report, Google might be trying to avoid clashing with Apple’s iPhone 16 launch in September. The reason for this isn’t apparent though. The second reason could be that Google wants to avoid details of the Pixel 9 getting leaked. A bunch of leaks about the phone have surfaced online already, but looks like the company is doing its best to prevent the leaks. Meanwhile, Google had also launched the Pixel 8a earlier than expected. The phone was expected to launch during the Google I/O event on May 14 this year. However, it launched a week earlier, on May 7.

Talking about the Made By Google event, it will take place at Google’s Mountain View headquarters, with a keynote starting at 10 am PT (5 pm GMT) on August 13. Following the keynote, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a “hands-on product experience.”

The upcoming event is expected to have several major advancements from Google, particularly in the realm of AI. The emerging tech has been the talk of the town ever since ChatGPT made its debut in 2022. Since then, many companies have been experimenting with AI and Google has been a frontrunner in this race. The company has its own AI chatbot called Gemini and also has unveiled AI features for many of its products recently.

Additionally, the Google Pixel 9 and the Pixel Watch 3 are expected to be unveiled during the event. Google usually unveils its new Pixel smartphones and watches in October, but this event suggests a possible shift in their release schedule.

Another expectation from the event is Android updates. Google is likely to announce updates that further refine the Android experience. These updates could include new security features, performance improvements, and innovative functionalities that leverage AI.
