Must read

Google is reportedly working on a new feature for its Photos Application which will let you give a weekly wrap-up of your memories to your loved ones. As per a report by the Android Authority, Google Photos is expected to soon offer a new feature known as ‘My Week’ in which users will be able to share their weekly memories with friends and family by selecting and highlighting their favourite photos.

The report further mentions that this feature allows users to invite others on Google Photos to view their weekly memories, similar to Instagram stories. Once configured, the photos will appear on a dedicated card within the Memories carousel.

By tapping on it, users can access a new “My Week” section to view photos shared in previous weeks, add more photos, and send messages to invited contacts. Additionally, they can like and comment on these photo highlights.

How Will Google Photos’ New Feature Work

When this feature becomes accessible to all users, a tile will appear in the top left corner of the Memories carousel, showing “Introducing My Week” next to your avatar and a ‘+’ button.

By tapping on the tile, you will open a setup wizard that animates your last couple of weeks and assists you in selecting the photos you want to share.

In addition to the new week feature in Google Photos, the company has introduced several minor updates. These include UI changes that indicate if a photo is part of an album or memory and an update to the Places section featuring a new map at the top.

Meanwhile, Apple and Google have collaborated to launch a new data transfer tool. This seamless migration tool has greatly enhanced the process of transferring cherished memories from Google Photos to iCloud Photos. This new tool is part of the Data Transfer Initiative, which aims to give users more control over their data by simplifying the transfer process between different services.
