Last December, Epic Games won a case with Google when the unanimous verdict from the jury of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California asserted that Google possessed monopoly power in the Android app distribution markets and in-app billing services markets. In April, Epic Games requested San Francisco US District Judge James Donato mandate the Google Play Store to allow third-party app stores for six years and limit agreements with device manufacturers restricting pre-installation of such stores.
Recently, the creator of Fortnite and Unreal Engine filed a lawsuit against Samsung and Google over Auto Blocker, which blocks people from getting applications from alternative app stores, including the one by Epic Games.
