Google May Have Inadvertently Revealed The Use Of MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 In Samsung’s Upcoming Galaxy S25 Series

Must read

A rumor has been floating around for a while that Samsung will employ MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9400 in one of its Galaxy S25 models as it aims to maintain a dual-chipset launch strategy to reduce its dependence on Qualcomm and decrease its chipset expenditure for the year. While neither Samsung nor MediaTek have confirmed the veracity of this claim, Google might have accidentally spilled the beans on how their partnership may blossom in the future.

Talking about the advancements made in Google’s AlphaChip division, the company might have revealed the use of the Dimensity 9400 in Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series

For those who do not know, Google’s AlphaChip is the advertising giant’s DeepMind AI division, which leverages artificial intelligence to design processors. In a recent blog post that highlighted the strides made by this sector, the company revealed Samsung’s and MediaTek’s possible alliance in the paragraph below.

“External organizations are also adopting and building on AlphaChip. For example, MediaTek, one of the top chip design companies in the world, extended AlphaChip to accelerate development of their most advanced chips — like the Dimensity Flagship 5G used in Samsung mobile phones — while improving power, performance and chip area.”

As you might have noticed, there is no specific mention of the Dimensity 9400 and the Galaxy S25 series, but it does mention ‘Dimensity Flagship 5G,’ which is either the Dimensity 9300 or the Dimensity 9300+, but that cannot be true because none of Samsung’s Galaxy S24 models were equipped with any one of MediaTek’s top-end chipsets. The Dimensity 9400 is expected to go official tomorrow, so it is possible that one of the companies will reveal the existing partnership between the two companies.

To recap, it was assumed that Samsung would incorporate some of its Galaxy S25 variants with the Exynos 2500, but it appears that due to unstable yields of its 3nm GAA process, the company has not just failed to attract potential customers but also delayed its flagship chipset’s launch. Fortunately, the Exynos 2500 may not be scrapped as Samsung is rumored to use it in its ‘price to performance’ Galaxy S25 FE, along with its future foldable smartphones.
