Indian ride-hailing company Ola has given a new direction to its mapping service, Ola Maps. The company has introduced an updated roadmap and pricing model, in a bid to foster digital self-reliance. This fresh approach includes a comprehensive set of APIs and SDKs, tailored specifically for the needs of Indian entrepreneurs, students and software developers. Ola is marketing this initiative as being “Crafted for India” and “Priced for India,” emphasising its focus on the domestic market.
Ola has also announced a significant reduction in its pricing structure, a move that comes shortly after Google’s declaration of a 70 per cent cut in Maps API fees for Indian developers and startups. These developments were revealed in the wake of Google’s announcements at its I/O Connect event held in Bengaluru.
