Following Samsung’s super early Black Friday Galaxy S24 sale, Google has launched a new promotion that hikes trade-in prices when buying the Pixel 9 series.
Google has boosted its trade-in prices when buying the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro/XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold directly from its site. The most it will pay for your old handset is $720 when buying any of the Pixel 9 phones.
The actual advertised maximum trade-in figure is $540, but going through the trade-in process reveals some better numbers.
Unfortunately, there is still no straight discount for Google’s latest flagship phones. The company is probably holding out for Black Friday next month.
Obviously, the highest figures are reserved for phones you are unlikely to swap for a Pixel 9, such as $720 for the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, or $650 for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. But there are some other solid valuations here.
- Google Pixel 7 Pro – $540
- Google Pixel 6 Pro – $450
- Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max – $440
- Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max – $635
The enhanced valuations are only impressive for a handful of devices because some the other pricing isn’t good at all. For example, Google will only pay $360 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra when buying the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Or $330 for the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. Compare that to Samsung’s recent trade-in deals when buying the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and it is clear Google lags behind the Korean company.

- Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max – $750 (Google’s price: $275)
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra – $800 (Google’s price: $360)
- Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G – $600 (Google’s price: $300)
- Google Pixel 7a – $600 (Google’s price: $300)
- Google Pixel 6 Pro – $600 (Google’s price: $450)
- Google Pixel 5 – $450 (Google’s price: $245)
Samsung remains the best place to swap in your old phone if you do it at the right time, it is also running a serious discount promotion for the Galaxy S24 Ultra right now.
With that said, Google isn’t shy about slashing hundreds of dollars off of its smartphones, as it has done repeatedly for the Pixel 8 series since December 2023. If you’re on the hunt for the Pixel 9, it’s worth holding off until Black Friday when we will likely see a significant straight money-off discount for the new Google phones.
