Google (NASDAQ:GOOG)(NASDAQ:GOOGL) rolled out an array of new artificial intelligence and gaming features to its Chromebook Plus models on Tuesday, in what has been an eventful quarter to advances in AI-powered computing.
Google AI on Chromebook Plus will give users an AI writing assistant, enhanced photo editing and the ability to utilize Gemini from the home screen, the company announced.
Google is also offering the Google One AI Premium plan for one year at no cost to new Chromebook Plus users.
A new Game dashboard will also be available for Chromebook and Chromebook Plus laptops, allowing users to “map your controls to your keyboard, resize your screen, and record and share your game play, bringing gaming to life on a Chromebook,” the company said.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based company also detailed its new spring lineup of six Chromebooks from Acer, Asus and HP (HPQ) including four Chromebook Plus models and two budget Chromebooks.
One of the Chromebook Plus models from Acer is specifically intended for teacher and education staff.
“Chromebook Plus powered by Intel (INTC) Core Ultra processors deliver cutting-edge AI capabilities that help boost teacher productivity,” said Jennifer Larson GM of Commercial Client Segment at Intel.
Google is expected to make another update for its education-focused Chromebooks next month.
The announcement by Google comes about one week after Microsoft (MSFT) revealed its slate of AI-ready PCs.
