Google Flights would refund up to $500 if the price of a flight drops before takeoff

Google would refund up to $500 if the price of a flight drops before the first trip on its route itinerary takes off.

The initiative is part of a price guarantee pilot program that promises to refund the difference if the price drops before the first flight departs.

The flight routes that have the price guarantee are those that Google’s algorithm anticipates that the price will not drop before takeoff.

“For some flight prices, Google’s algorithms rely on the lowest price available before the flight departs. For those flights, we will control the price until the first flight in your itinerary departs. If the price goes down, we will make up the difference,” Google’s website specifies.

Until now, the offer was only available for certain itineraries that allow “Book on Google”. However, Google has expanded the program to certain itineraries that are on Google Flights, but are booked on an airline or travel agency’s website.

Maximum rebate is $500 per year per Google account, as long as the discount is greater than $5. From the price drop, the company will send you the difference through Google Pay.

You can have up to three guaranteed travel bookings active at the same time.

The offer is currently available for flights from the United States, and requires you to be logged in to your Google Account when booking.
