Must read

A media release from the Glenwood Springs Police Department confirmed that police responded to a “violent event” at the Glenwood Meadows Shopping Center on Monday afternoon.

At a press conference several hours after the shooting Glenwood Springs Police Chief Joseph Deras confirmed that the suspect was deceased, and no one else was injured.

A press release from police earlier in the day stated that the suspect was in custody.

Deras stated that the shooting began when a Glenwood Springs police officer attempted to make contact with an individual who had a warrant, and that the individual drew a “high-capacity firearm” on the officer, leading to shots fired.

Police stated in the release that the area of the shooting will remain closed to the public for approximately eight hours.
