General Dynamics Information Technology has received a potential five-year, $1 billion contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to support the implementation of a cloud-based infrastructure designed to facilitate the delivery of healthcare services to citizens.

According to a notice published Friday on the Federal Procurement Data System-Next Generation, the CMS Office of Acquisition and Grants Management received two offers for the Cloud Products and Tool, or CPT, contract.

In late 2020, GDIT booked a $241 million task order from CMS for cloud implementation support.

CPT Contract Scope

CMS uses the CPT contract to acquire cloud-based computing platforms from commercial cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure Government, as well as hardware, software, tools and professional services needed to streamline healthcare services delivery efforts.

According to the award notice, the agency is obligating approximately $1.5 million in funds for the contract.

The contract is expected to conclude on June 30, 2030.
