Gary A. Spengler Sr.

Gary A. Spengler Sr.,70, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at his home with his family at his side.

He was born in Gowanda, NY on May 22, 1954, the son of the late Paul and Arlene (Snyder) Spengler. On Nov. 5, 1977, he married the love of his life, the former Laurie Coomer, at St. Rose of Lima RC Church in Forestville, NY.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Laurie Spengler; three loving children, Gary A. (Andrea) Spengler Jr., Kelly and Justin Spengler; six cherished grandchildren, Madison and Zackary Ossman, Jack, Benjamin, and Ryan Spengler, and Mason Spengler; three dear siblings, Linda (Leonard) Spengler, Paul Spengler, and Marlene Wilson; and also survived by many nieces and nephews. Last but not least he leaves behind his canine companion “Bee.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Clarence Hess and brother, Ronald Hess.

Gary attended Forestville High School. He was the independent owner operator of Gary A. Spengler Sr. Auto Transport. He enjoyed a 50-plus- year-long trucking career beginning at age 17, hauling a load of apples for the family farm from Forestville to Spokane, WA. His trucking travels expanded to include the entire country he loved; from Key West, FL to Anchorage, AK, From NYC to LA, and everywhere in between. From packing and hauling household goods as a mover, to trucking freight and steel, to transporting automobiles, to supplying the oil fracking fields of West Texas (a second home he loved so dearly), Gary hauled just about everything to just about everywhere one could imagine. Gary was a hard worker, an extraordinary mechanic, a life-long entrepreneur, a proud patriot, and a superior vegetable gardener (feeding many grateful friends and family members). A workaholic by nature, he somehow still made time to enjoy camping, cooking, and even learning to fly. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who he was extremely proud of. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
