Huron County hospitals will benefit from a $3,161,330 investment by the Ontario Government.

The money will help five local hospitals upgrade and repair infrastructure in an effort to ensure people can connect to the care they need, close to home, for years to come.

The largest share at $1,018,569 goes to Seaforth Community Hospital. Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich will receive $595,679. Clinton Public Hospital is getting $627,467. South Huron Hospital will receive $144,053 and $775,562 will support upgrades at Wingham and District Hospital

“Our government recognizes the important role hospitals have in the delivery of rural health care and I’m pleased that the hospital infrastructure funding has been secured in continued support,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce.

This funding will help address urgent infrastructure needs such as upgrading or replacing roofs, windows, security and fire alarm systems, and emergency generators to ensure people can continue to connect to care in safe, modern facilities.

According to a media release from Thompson, the Ontario government is investing more than $228 million this year to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 129 hospitals and 58 community health care facilities across the province.

“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is making record investments in the health care system to ensure people are able to access care at state-of-the-art hospitals and community health providers,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This year our government is investing an additional $20 million to allow facilities to modernize and make critical upgrades, ensuring people can connect to the care they need, when they need it, close to home.”
